rD.CS Faroe Islands lineup announced
written by xtS - 19.05.2011 - 13:57
[71] comments, latest by hsdfgsrgh - 19.05.2012 - 21:54
We are proud to announce our Counter-strike 1.6 Faroe Islands team. After considering different lineups for quite a while, we are now done contracting our new team.

Lineup
Aron 'AroN' Hammer (Team Leader)
Peter 'Nixi' Christiansen
Emil 'm1lle' Lyngvej-Larsen
Tórbjørn 'zim^' Haraldsen
Beinir "bNR" Poulsen

Welcome to rD, Aron.
- Thanks, yeah we are really happy to join the organisation.

We are happy that you guys signed with us and we look forward in our future cooperation. What do you guys plan to achieve in 2011?
-Well basically we've already had one of the achievements accomplished which was NONSTOP LAN where we came first, next is definitely to win GamingFo CUP as it's considered the biggest LAN in Faroe Islands. After these two LAN's, we're going to compete more online as-well cause at this moment we're not on ESL, but you'll see us in EAS Nordic in the next season, you'll also see you at SGL season 15 as we reformed right after SGL season 14 started.

Could you describe the chosen lineup for our readers?
-Well zim is the man that holds the big green gun for us, he can easily hold a site alone as he's really strong with the AWP, and he can also change a round from almost impossible to equal. m1lle is our sprayer I'd say, he's very talented with both AK47 and M4A1 and he's the kinda guy that can easily be top fragger every game cause of his amazing talents with the rifles. Nixi is one of the backup players, he does what is needed. You might not see this guy top fragging a lot of games, but he does what he has to do, the guy has aim and game sense. bNR is one of the newer players in the team, the guy has been around for quite a while, and we were 100% sure he should be our 5th when one of our players went inactive. The guy is really good, and considered one of the two backup players, he's amazing to hold sites, just put him on the place that you feel unsafe at and he'll sort it out for you. Now me, I'm the tactical leader and team captain, but after that I consider myself as an aimstar of the team as in clutches. I've won quite a lot of 1vX situations. After all that I don't really know what to say, as I've got to focus on the tactics and how the team plays before thinking about myself.

What future improvements do you expect and desire in the next months of gaming with the rD tag?

-Well basically we're not going to be at Na`Vi level within a few months, but we expect to get quite far, we'll have more tactics sorted at that time, and being under the rD tag has already improved our motivation a lot.

Good luck and once again welcome to rD.
- Yeah thanks again so much, We look forward to represent the organisation.

As usual, we always interview the winners of our tours, this week NorwayWhistlerR was the player that came out on top.

images/news-pics/174_1304432456.jpg
rD.BW tour #8 Zerg hero

-Congratulations WhistlerR for the 1st place in our 8th qualifing tour.
-Thx, I'm happy I could qualify.

-Could you please introduce yourself to all the BroodWar fans out there ?
-Ok, my name is Björn Ehrnberg, I'm a member of NbTeam.I live in Norway but I'm born in Sweden and I still consider myself Swedish. Started to play BroodWar in 2001, had a few breaks but mostly been active since I started.

-You had some tough opponents , but you managed to own everybody with your cool A- Zerg skills. What does it takes to be an A- nowadays since not a lot of foreigners are playing BroodWar anymore?
-Hmm i dunno, lots of games maybe? and watching Jaedong VOD's .

-Why zerg?
-I don't remember,I played zerg since I started, never experimented with t or p,but I play PvP for fun sometimes because it doesn't need too much skill.

-You and Trix did a great show , but do you think any other player would have put a better fight in the final against you ?
-I don't know,I think it would be more difficult to win LRM)Bakuryu since its ZvZ, and u never know whats going to happen.I think Nb.Terror [KiDCaNaDa] and NrG.Dragon also would put up a good fight.

-What impression did tonight's tournament give you, and what expectations do you have now that you got a spot on the rD.BW Winners tour?
-Well it gave me the impression that I'm more gosu then I thought.I don't know who is in the winner tournaments except Joekim and Scan, don't know much about Joekim but I heard his good. Scan beat me almost every game with his offrace lol, so it will be hard but I'm gonna do my best to win.

-Would you recommend players watching the cast/replays to try your builds?
-Sure, it's all about the macro.

-Lately a lot of BroodWar events/tournaments have been made do you think that the scene could get "back" on his feet ?
-I don't think BroodWar will ever be what it once was but as long as people play the game and there are tournaments/leagues people won't leave, this game is like chess, it never gets old.

-Talking about BroodWar, how come you didn't switch to Starcraft 2?
-Well I bought SC2,played 2 campaign missions and 3min in a game online, but I left the game before I even scouted the opponent and decided to put it away, the game can't be compared to BroodWar.But I will upgrade my computer so I can play on high graphics and then give it another shot just for the sake of the great community and activity it has.

-Lets talk about your life now. How is a normal day in WhistlerR's life?
-I wake up, drink my coffee, play a lot of games, eat breakfast, play a lot of games, eat dinner, play a lot of games then I go to bed.I also watch family guy/Simpson/it's always sunny in Philadelphia.. oh and I eat a lot of candy.BTW did I mention play a lot of games? amused

-Beside playing BroodWar what other games do you play?
-Well nothing more but I play a lot of poker, Texas holdem.

-Once again, congratulations and thanks for your time .Any last words, shout outs ?
-First I want to thank rD team for making this tournament and still care about BroodWar and keeping it alive.I want to give a shout out to the best clan leader on BroodWar, Nb.h00ligan for creating such a gosu team, and my practice partners "dredredre" and "donzodonzo" for helping my zvt from C+ level to B+, that was the match up holding me back. and ofc Jaedong crazy

Interview with LML, Winner of rD tour #7
written by xtS - 25.04.2011 - 14:28
[73] comments, latest by jshoeslyc - 19.05.2012 - 23:11
rD.BW tour #7 is over and the German player LML came on top, and we managed to interviewed the winner.

-Hi LML, congratulations for a well deserved victory. How does it feel to be no.1 on rD.bw tour #7 ?
-Hey, it feels a little surprised by good.

-Could you please introduce yourself to all the BroodWar fans out there ?
-Well, my name is Marius, I'm 21 years old and from Germany. I play StarCraft since about 10years, and melee probably about 5.
When I don't play BroodWar I play Minecraft, sometimes SC2, work for GosuGamers.net, do some programming or do fun stuff in real life.

-Friday we saw some strange openings from you against Zerg players.Could you tell us exactly how that BO works and what advantage has ?
-Heh, I don't like to play the standard BO's which everybody would expect, since that throws a lot of people off, so I try to do other effective strategies which have a special strong point.
For PvZ I chose to play 1base for some time, but against better the BO I executed back then wasn't effective enough and I needed a faster expansion, hence I managed to come up with this.
Mainly the early zealot helps against 5pool rushes and ling run-by's, when the lings are in your main. Besides that the zealots can force the zerg to waste minerals on sunken colonies to delay his attacks and if he doesn't want to react to them with sunkens or zerglings they can as well just do damagewink
It's simply a 10gate 12forge, then the probe who made the forge goes scouting and makes a pylon at the natural, where a cannon is added as soon as the forge and the pylon are done. Two zealots are made to prevent zerglings from surrounding the cannon. If no massive zergling push is discovered the Nexus is added, followed by gas in main and another pylon and another cannon at the natural, preferably placed in a way to also protect the mineral line against mutas already (concerning United Kingdom Sayle questioning my cannon placement of the 2nd cannon every gamewink

-Would you recommend players watching the cast/replays to try your builds?
-No, keep me special;P If everybody would use it, I would have to come up with something different.

-You and Zaraki did a great show , but do you think any other player would have put a better fight in the final against you ?
-I don't know who exactly has also been in the tournament, but my biggest fear might have been DragOn and Bakuryu, whom I only managed to beat once before, which was the defiler.ru tournament last Sunday. I didn't take a look at the other half of the bracket, though

-Why Protoss ?
-I chose it already when I was a newbie and played and made UMS maps all day, it just was my favourite race. And after playing the other races I still liked it the most, suits me the best, imo.

-What impression did tonight's tournament give you, and what expectations do you have now that you got a spot on the rD.BW Winners tour?
-Not too many. Looking at some of the players in the rD.BW Winners tour I don't see my chances to be that high. Scan who just won ISL, the second placed Ace, dOTY and spx are all very fearsome.I think I was a little lucky this Friday;P

-Lately a lot of BroodWar events/tours have been made do you think that the scene could get "back" on his feet ?
-It could and will, it's on its best way. Game is putting a lot of effort into it, and iCCup tries hard, too, and we at GosuGamers are looking forward to help on that part in the future too.
We just need less pessimistic people who call the scene dead every day instead of realizing it's growing bigger and bigger again.

-Lets talk about your life now. How is a normal day in LML's life?
-Currently I am done with my social duty by the end of the month (social duty = dodging army duty in Germany), and right now I am having my left over vacation since two weeks so it's mainly playing some BroodWar, enjoying the awesome weather we got right now and tutoring school stuff to a friend who has holidays atm.Nothing special.

-Beside playing BroodWar what other games do you like to play?
-As mentioned above, I bought Minecraft some weeks ago and I have to admit that it's a lot of fun and can eat up a lot of time. Besides that I sometimes dare to go on SC2 where the system was nice enough to place me in diamond league because I beat some newbies and now I get crushed every game by people who actually have played more than 50 SC2 games;P
Besides that I don't really play anything, mainly BroodWar or surf the internet and watch lots of series.

-Once again, congratulations and thanks for your time .Any last words, shout outs ?
-A little promise from some years ago: Shoutout to LRM)OyA <3
Besides that, shoutouts to the GosuGamers Crew<3 and everybody who is supporting the BroodWar scene and still shares the love for the game, also to you guys for hosting such tournaments.

As usual, we always interview the winners of our tours, this week United KingdomNb.Karate was the player that came out on top.

images/news-pics/170_1303045008.jpg
Tonights winner Nb.Karate.

-Congratulations karate, for a well deserved victory.
-I think I got lucky a lot xD I scouted a lot of proxies in my games, but thanks!

-Could you please introduce yourself for our readers ?
-Not much to say really my name is Mark Greensill ,I'm an English B zerg player (but I play tvz), been playing iCCup for a few years now. I'm in team Nb (noobs), im nothing special.

-After wining drag0n and lamer ,you had to play the German player vanatir which managed to take down a lot of good players like eonzerg, jumperer & bakuryu. What were you thinking before facing him ?
-I thought I would definitely win because zvp is my strongest match up, and I felt on top of my game after beating dragon-.I didnt know exactly how good vanitir was, so I tried to play safe with early scouting.

-On destination we saw an epic answer for the 2 gate cheese of vanatir, what made you scout your base?
-I had a feeling that he would 2gate me to being himself back 2:2, so I decided to scout for proxies and had no luck. Then I noticed that he didn't scout me --> then I just thought 'oh crap its in my base! I'm so dead! amused

-Do you think any other opponent from this tournament would have put a better fight against you in the final ?
-I'm very weak against zerg right now, so yeah any zerg in the tourney would probably have slaughtered me. Also, I played zvp vs dragon on heartbreak ridge, my best zvp map, so I knocked him out in a bo1 which was lucky. I think a bo5 with him would have been very difficult to take.

-Would you recommend players watching the cast/replays to try your builds?
-Yeah, why not.

-What impression did tonight's tournament give you, and what expectations do you have now that you got a spot on the rD.BW Winners tour?
-It was a nice tournament, with lots of skilled players.About the winners tour I hope to do as well as I did on this one.

-About ISL who are u rooting for? And who do you think is the favorite to win the event?
-I'm afraid I don't follow ISL, so I don't know who is favored to win, but I guess I'm rooting for all of the underdogs in that tourney, and any Nb members of-course wink

-Lets talk about your life now. How is a normal day in karate's life?
-Grim these days- I have a ton of A level exams in a couple of months, but on the plus side I recently passed my driving test, and I've got a couple of big nights of heavy drinking ahead of me with mates. This Easter holiday I've basically been a couch potato- playing BroodWar and watching TV all day for a whole week lolz so much fun wink

-Beside playing BroodWar what other games do you play?
-I play other games like Dawn of war, COD, left4dead and red dead redemption, but not regularly- its mostly BroodWar for me.

-Once again, congratulations and thanks for your time .Any last words, shout outs ?
-Thanks again, it was just a lucky series of games crazy I'd like to thank Nb.M0B for telling me about the tourney like 3 hours beforehand, and to United Kingdom Sayle cuz he is awesome happy I love watching his stream from time to time.

As usual, we always interview the winners of our tours, this week Russian Federation iFu.spx was the player that came out on top.

-Congratulations spx,for a well deserved victory.
Thank you very much,I want to thank dsaqwe for reminding me about this tourney.

-Could you please introduce yourself for our readers ?
My name is Rodichev Anton,I have 21 years old, living in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia. Playing BroodWar since 2005 prolly or even longer, my old aka Sp)Sphynx. Extremely dependent on my guitar, playing stuff like Antoine Dufour, Andy Mckee or Tommy Emmanuel <3 (http://www.2shared.com, bad quality sound since I record it through integrated soundcard but anyway check it)

-You had some really tough opponents in the tour.eonzerg managed to win against u 2 times what was your tought when you saw zerlings rushing in the first match ?
I have to admit that the toughest opponent in the tour definitely was LRM)bakuruyu(hope typed his nick correctly), recommend to watch the game to understand why.Well when eonzerg rushed in I was like: "Eon, please, don't make speed for lings before a lair, because my firebat timing is off TT". However i was chill and confident to win in the next games.

-Do you think any other opponent would have put a better fight against you in the final ?
Yea, I guess it could be bakuryu

-Would you recommend players watching the cast/replays to try your builds?
Yeah I guess ,it would be a pleasure for me if they'll do

-What impression did tonight's tournament give you, and what expectations do you have now that you got a spot on the rD.BW Winners tour?
I'm very happy since I've got this and understand that BroodWar is not dying. I still wanna know who is that guy tmsknl[hon]

-About ISL who are u rooting for? And who do you think is the favorite to win the event?
Scan or Sziky prolly 58% vs 42%. But I'm cheering for Ace!! gogo!! Get them.

-Once again, congratulations and thanks for your time .Any last words, shoutouts ?
Thank you for this awesome tourneys and nice organisations also! I'll do my best to win the final tournament!
Also thanks to iFU team, dsaqwe again and others <3
